In evening of January 13, 2013, in Kyiv, the clergy and the faithful of the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church Canonical, according to the old Ukrainian tradition, congratulated Kyiv residents on the start of the New Year by the Julian calendar. In this evening (popularly referred to as "Generous Evening"), the whole family gathers at the festive table and wish each other prosperity in the New Year. Meanwhile, carolers (children and adults) go from house to house, congratulating the hosts on the holiday and singing shchedrivki (Ukrainian folk songs dedicated to generous evening), wishing family happiness, love and prosperity in the New Year.

In the morning of January 7, 2013, in the Cathedral of Transfiguration of the Lord of the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church Canonical, Vasyliy, Bishop of Fastiv, in concelebration with Mykolai, Bishop of Lviv and Uzhgorod, celebrated the solemn Divine Liturgy in honor of the Nativity of the Lord.

On the blessed day of the Nativity of Christ, January 7, 2013, the clergy and the faithful of the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church Canonical were greeting citizens and guests of Kyiv on the occasion of the birth of the Savior, singing Christmas carols and wishing the good, peace and love of God to every person and every family.

January 5, 2013, on the eve of Christmas in Uzhgorod, the clergy and the faithful of the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church Canonical together with people not indifferent to human troubles organized and carried out the charity event – free dinner for the poor people. The poor and homeless people had the opportunity to eat hot tasty food, warming the body and the soul.
