On Sunday, April 7, 2013, in Kyiv, in the Transfiguration of the Lord Cathedral of the Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church Canonical Oleksandr, Archbishop of Zhytomyr in concelebration with Vasyliy, Bishop of Fastiv and Mykolai, Bishop of Lviv and Uzhhorod, ministered the Holy Divine Liturgy in the honor of one the biggest Orthodox feasts - the Annunciation of Our Most Holy Lady.

"And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. And the Lord God will give to him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end." Such words were told by archangel Gabriel, who appeared in city Nazareth to bring the good news about the birth of Jesus, the Messiah. And exactly this day became the saving one for all humanity, because the Virgin agreed to become the Mother of God: "Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word." In the same time she destined herself for humiliation and sufferings, because all His challenges were also her challenges. Among all people on the Earth, it was Mary, who gave her flesh and blood to the God's Son. On this day of Annunciation of the Holy Lady we can see the Woman, who could trust God with all her heart, mind and power of her soul. That is why this day is the day of celebration of humbleness and purity. And at the same time this day is the beginning of the Holy mission of the God's Son on the Earth: "that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life."
