Glory to Jesus Christ, dear brothers and sisters!
I congratulate you with the Holy Sunday and Holy Communion.
Today we have heard very interesting Gospel. This is our vital bread, which was given by God for the growth of our souls and bodies – for our salvation. We try to understand and explain you as best as we can God’s words.
We have heard the Gospel (Mt., VI:22-33), where God said about the eye, which is the lamp for the body. He talked about eye and body. He affirms that if your eye is healthy, your body will be also light and pure. But if your eye is bad, your body will be full of darkness.
God created Heaven and Earth. He also created a man. He created the body from the Earth substance and breathed life into it.
The man consists of body and soul. The main is the soul. The Lord said that the body is the Temple for the soul. He also said that if your eye (soul) is healthy, your body will be light and pure. It means that your soul is full of the same things as body. If there are angriness, unforgiveness and envy in your soul, how can your eyes show light? What kind of light would it be? It would be darkness. God said that our body should be light through our soul, through that light, which is in the soul. How can we accomplish this?
Next words in the Gospel are: “Do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you?” He will clothe you, because human soul is much higher creation of God. That is why I call you to remember that we have come on this Earth for God’s sake. God watches how we manage with all things He gave us.
God gave us body, but we still think: “It is not enough. We also need something to eat, drink. He should earn money. If we get ill we need more money. We have kids. We must pay for their education, buy apartments or houses for them, feed them till pension.” And every time we think how earn more and more. We don’t think about salvation, about our mission on this Earth.
When we think about the Kingdom of Heaven, about our body as the temple of God, then we work on ourselves and our body starts to be light. And then God looks at us, He sees that our eyes light with love, forgiveness. There is God’s wisdom in them. Such soul would go to God’s abode, which He prepared for His lovely kids after its time on the Earth.
That is why, dear brothers and sisters, let’s remember about it and do not focus on money or bad times only. Think about salvation, because we came here to save our soul, our family tree. Think about all our close people and relatives; help them be saved together with us.
